The architectural argument
OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind operate in light visible as text tokens. Their models tokenize human-readable symbols as discrete units, then compose them through attention. Image and audio extend the paradigm. Multimodal AI fuses post-tokenization. Architecture: symbol manipulation across one spectrum's worth of tokens.
